Okayplayer Presents: Shouting at the Screen
Back in the days before live-tweeting, the only way to express your thoughts while watching a movie was to yell them out loud to the delight of your friends, and the disgust of the old people two rows in front of you.
Join WYATT CENAC (Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show”) and DONWILL (Tanya Morgan) as they take you back to the 70′s and guide you through an evening of the most outrageous blaxploitation movie classics.
Each month, Wyatt and Donwill will screen another fine specimen from yesteryear, egging you on from the peanut gallery as the non-foam Statler and Waldorf. Get there early for cocktails and snacks, and settle in to experience movie-going the old-fashioned and most hilarious way
Pre-party features DJ Tara (http://www.deejaytara.com/)

Harlem, USA
Harlem Shake has slowly been growing in popularity recently,
and when I noticed they had veggie burger options and a great new outdoor
patio, I had to give them a try.

Harlem Shake takes you back in time with its vintage look from the 50′s. One of the first things that impressed me was the customer service. From making reservations, to placing orders during dinner, they definitely go out of their way to make you feel special. The night I stopped by I was beginning my night-long birthday bar crawl through Harlem. August, the manager, made sure we started the party off right with a few glasses of complimentary Red Wine. This aint no Shake Shack!

I ordered the Jerk Fry burger (substituted the beef pattie with
the veggie) which frankly taste like heaven! It comes with a nice serving of jerk
fries on top. I was a little leery of eating something too spicy but this
burger has just the right amount of kick. Is the food a little on the expensive
side? Yes. But damn if it’s not worth it! Didn’t get to enjoy the famous Shakes
as we were partying with wine and beer options. Your wine choices are Cheap, Good and Bougie – cheap being a nice pour
of Pinot.

The newly opened outside patio had plenty of seating and I
loved the open air design overlooking the outside dining area. Great Soul & R&B music was playing
throughout adding to the great vibe. I had out-of-town guest with me as well
and they certainly were impressed.
Great pre-game fuel before a night out in Uptown!

Art Bar
52 8th Ave. - West Village

If you can't tell by now I love hidden bars and this Bar - Lounge is great anytime. Name is taken from the rotating art on the walls done by local artist. Spacious bar area in the front with large booths. But the reason this place makes my Best Of list is what you don't see...
Go all the way to the back and behind a curtain is an intimate candlelit lounge full of couches, chairs, a working fireplace and gallery exhibits.

Prices on food and drink stay on the low side from open to close making this a great late night spot. Kitchen is open late - 2:00am weekdays and to 3:00am weekends
Grab your honey, head to the back with one of the house specials (usually martinis) and just let this place set the mood.
Drinks:
Absolute Paradise - Just what the name says!
Malibu Punch - Worth the trip
White, Red & Rose Wine
Stella, Blue Moon, Blue Point on Draft
